What is PM Surya Ghar?
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is the Government of India’s rooftop solar subsidy scheme for residential homes. It provides a direct capital subsidy that reduces your upfront installation cost, paid straight to your bank account after commissioning — not as a discount at the time of purchase.
How much subsidy can you get?
For residential systems, the subsidy is structured in slabs: ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 per additional kW between 2 kW and 3 kW, and a fixed cap of ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above. A typical 3 kW home system in Hyderabad can therefore claim the full ₹78,000 subsidy.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility generally requires that the property be a residential household with a valid electricity connection, that the installation use empanelled vendors and approved components, and that the system be grid-connected with net metering. Documentation requirements can change, so it’s worth confirming your specific eligibility before you commit to a system size.
